Mission Statement
The Surfrider Foundation is an International non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves, and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research, and education. We take these ideals and apply them close to home, here in the great Ocean State of Rhode Island.

History
The Rhode Island Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation was formed in September of 1998. A group of twelve individuals came together as a direct result of a booming population growth and increased recreational use of southern Rhode Island's coastal area. During the past 9 years, the RI Chapter of Surfrider Foundation has grown to about 225 National dues paying members, with about 25 active members who participate regularly in meetings and events. Help us to carry on the traditions.
